StudyWorld 2009 - Another Successful Event Comes to a Close

Berlin. After two fruitful days, the international higher education fair StudyWorld 2009 came to an end on Saturday, May 16th. A total of 9,643 visitors gathered in Berlin’s Russisches Haus der Wissenschaft und Kultur, where they profited from the wealth of information available about Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes and internships in Germany and abroad. Representatives from 178 institutions based in 29 countries acquainted the assembled with their services and products, making it the largest and most varied event in the history of the successful series.

Silke Lieber, project leader of StudyWorld 2009, commented: "We are pleased to have been able to offer the participants such an extensive choice of domestic and foreign exhibitors and universities, particularly because it exceeded even last year’s figures. StudyWorld again proved itself to be one of the very best addresses for people seeking advice for their educational stay abroad. We are confident that it brought the participants a big step closer to their dream of studying or doing an internship in a foreign country.”

Studying in Canada was the focal point at StudyWorld 2009, and representatives from eighteen institutions informed the inquisitive guests about both secondary and post-secondary academic opportunities in the country. Furthermore, the Canadian Embassy provided tips regarding issues of admission to and funding of educational stays and explained visa and entry requirements.

In the seminar programme, visitors had the choice from among 65 presentations and informational events. Experts gave tips about internships abroad and provided details about the recognition of degrees and courses, as well as about financing a period of residence overseas. Individual talks centred on studying in Australia, Great Britain, Indonesia, Japan, Canada, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and the USA. Still other topics included financing academic programmes, individual career planning and courses of studies that hold significant promise for the future.

Planning for the next StudyWorld is already in gear. The fifth international fair for higher and continuing education will take place in Berlin on April 23th – 24th, 2010.
